Meet

Dr Vanessa Brown is the Director of Academic Planning; and Director of the Mellon Postgraduate Development Programme at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). She holds an MPhil (UWC), an EdM (Harvard University, USA), and a PhD (Education Policy) from the University of Pretoria. Vanessa has been active in education, policy and development for over 30 years as a teacher, lecturer, NGO trainer, student mentor, institutional leader and strategist. Her current research interests include higher education policy studies; the history of SA’s historically black universities (HBUs); institutional culture and transformation.
